Chapter 11 - Lila

I bat my eyelids in disbelief, staring at Flynn as if he’s gone mad. He’s crazy, once again going from icy cold to as fiery as a furnace in a split second.

So have I, intoxicated by the addicting effect of his minty kisses and the way his large, strong hands grip my waist possessively.

There’s a feral glint in his eyes, dark now with ravenous lust. The towel hugging my body does little to protect me from his radiating presence, or from the rigidness of his manhood that swells against my belly.

I press my knees together when I feel warmth ooze from my core and slip down my inner thighs. A shiver passes through me, shuddering my body into pliancy against his hard frame. He doesn’t stop staring fiercely into my eyes, a brow raised expectantly in anticipation of more resistance from me.

I wish I had the strength to fight him, to hold those walls that I built high enough and keep him out so I wouldn’t have to feel so weak. Without a wolf, I feel so defenseless against him, against his contradictory behavior changing with at a flip of an imaginary switch. I’m vulnerable to face the feelings I’ve buried away, feelings that I've tried to convince myself that he doesn't deserve.

Right now, none of that matters. It’s almost as if what happened two years ago is wiped from existence, leaving behind only the remnants of those emotions I felt when I saw his reflection on the surface of the shallow body of water. The sensations I felt then return now, my fingers tingling, my ears ringing, and my heart racing as if reaching out for his.

I’m practically melting toward him, an unseen force magnetizing me forward as my eyes flutter closed. I’m inebriated by this moment, my last-ditch attempt to fight the inevitable surrender the only reason I murmur, “I can’t stand you, Flynn…I hate you…”

“I know,” he drawls, his voice dark and brooding as he hitches a hand beneath the edge of the towel where it hangs over my breasts. “But you want me, nonetheless,” he purrs as he rips the towel from my body, leaving me fully exposed in front of him.

Instinctively, my hands fly up to cover my bare breasts, my breath hitching in my throat when he groans and stares at my naked body, with all its voluptuous curves and rolls that I’m not particularly proud of, but Flynn’s eyes sparkle with marveling wonder.

“Fuck,” he groans through gritted teeth, ogling me with a clenched jaw and lust darkening his eyes. A small frown grows on his face when he spots the remnants of the burn marks from the accident with Cynthia. His eyes flicker back to mine, sending a shiver down my spine.

It’s not as if it’s true concern that contorts his face. He must be revolted by the appearance of the ghastly scars that haven’t healed fully, even as he reaches out and touches the nasty abrasion on the top of my right breast.
